Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía opens in Madrid
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Madrid; the Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía.
The 103-room, four star hotel forms part of the company’s premium category.
The eye-catching building and its prime, city centre location proved crucial in the Majorcan company’s decision to choose it for its first venture in to Madrid.
The hotel combines contemporary and traditional design which Iberostar intends to consolidate, turning it into one of the capital’s leading hotels.

The hotel chain will maintain and enhance its finest features and align with the chain’s superb standards of quality, based on impeccable service and meticulous attention to gastronomy.
Aurelio Vázquez, chief executive for Europe, the Middle East and Africa of Iberostar Group, said: “With the opening of the Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía, the company is now present in one of Spain’s top domestic and international tourist destinations.
“Iberostar feels privileged to manage a hotel like this in Madrid, as it will enable us to continue offering the Group’s high standards of quality in a unique setting.
“It is also the right move in our strategy of focusing on the urban hotel sector as we increase our city hotel portfolio to four.”
First opened in 1917, the historic building that houses the Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía was declared part of the Autonomous Community of Madrid’s Cultural Heritage and has recently been restored with an avant-garde style design.
The restoration work successfully retained all the building’s traditional sense of warmth, as well as enhancing the facilities through the use of natural light.
The building’s six floors include 103 modern, designer rooms with large windows, offering spectacular views of Madrid’s Gran Vía.
Each floor is decorated in a different colour, with famous lines by writers and poets adorning the hotel’s walls, terraces and balconies. Indeed, the decor throughout the hotel is based on a literary theme that culminates in the heart of the hotel: its magnificent library.
