Iberia launches Madrid-Rabat flight

Airbus A320s with Business and Tourist seating classes will be used for the flights, which will operate on Mondays and Fridays. The flights are timed for the convenience of passengers arriving in Madrid, who will be able to fly on to another 25 Spanish cities, 28 destinations in Europe, as well as to Tel Aviv and 18 cities in the Americas of Iberia’s network. They will also be suitable for both business travellers and holidaymakers from Spain and Morocco.

As Morocco’s capital city, Rabat hosts the embassies of all countries represented there. Its 1.6 million people make it the country’s second-largest region, after Casablanca. The new route is expected to be welcomed not only by tourists but also by Spanish residents of the Sjirat-Temara prefecture and Spanish business firms with operations in Morocco. Passengers will be able to combine on one ticket the route Madrid – Rabat with flights operated by Iberia between the Spanish capital and Casablanca.

Iberia now operates a total of 66 flights per week between Spain and the Moroccan airports of Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier, and in 2010 it carried nearly 222,000 passengers. In 2011 the total supply of seats between Spain and Morocco will reach some 295,000.
