Holiday Inn Express set to open in Calgary

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Calgary, Alberta is set to open following a $25 million investment by 722413 Alberta.

The six-story, 113-room hotel also includes 49 suites, a business centre, indoor swimming pool with waterslide, and a large meeting space for up to 160 people appropriate for both weddings and corporate meetings.

Additionally, the hotel boasts beautiful mountain and downtown views and a heated underground parking facility.

“Holiday Inn Express hotels are designed to be the smart choice for value-conscious business and leisure travellers,” said Heather Balsley, senior vice president, Americas Holiday Inn brand family, IHG.

“With more than 2,200 properties worldwide and 450 more in the pipeline, the Holiday Inn Express portfolio continues to provide our guests with an enhanced-stay experience at a great value.

“We are proud to welcome this hotel into the Holiday Inn brand family with the brand-new sign and everything it represents.”

This 78,000-square-foot addition to IHG’s hotels in Calgary is located close to some of the city’s major attractions such as McMahon Stadium at the University of Calgary and the Canada Olympic Park.

Other neighbouring attractions include Calgary Zoo, SAIT Polytechnic, Calaway Park and the Tellus Science Museum.

“The location of our hotel and our corporate and wedding facilities make it well-suited to serve a variety of travellers to the area,” said Sherri Syrja, general manager, Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Calgary NW - University Area.

“The brand is ideal for travellers on the move and is well-poised to serve the growing Calgary market.”

The Holiday Inn Express brand is one of the largest and fastest growing hotel brands in the industry, and in order to meet the ever-changing needs of its guest, IHG invested in the $1 billion Holiday Inn global brand re-launch, the largest in hospitality history.

The re-launch continues to drive increased quality and consistency across the global portfolio, and new hotels feature a contemporary image with emphasis on arrival and welcome services, guestroom and guest bath comfort and a redesigned logo and signage.

The new hotel offers guests a comfortable, yet affordable stay with innovative, preferred-guest upgrades to ensure a pleasurable experience with amenities that include a 24-hour fitness centre, complimentary high-speed Internet access and a business centre.

Business travellers will find large desks with ergonomic chairs, free local phone and toll free phones with private voicemail, and complimentary newspapers.

For the convenience of those in need, the property offers adjoining rooms, which are subject to availability.
