Hilton Worldwide announces Hilton Garden Inn development in Montevideo

Hilton Worldwide today announced the signing of a management agreement to operate a Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay - the country’s capital and financial center. The new-build 168-room Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo, expected to open in late 2014, represents the brand’s eighth development project in Latin America and Hilton Worldwide’s first managed hotel in Uruguay.

Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will form part of Montevideo Shopping Center - the first mall constructed in Uruguay in 1985, which was developed and is managed by Estudio Luis E. Lecueder.  Hilton Worldwide will operate the hotel under the terms of a multi-year management agreement as part of its growth efforts in Latin America.

“We are thrilled about the signing of this Hilton Garden Inn management agreement in Montevideo, Uruguay.  As part of our expansion throughout Latin America, we have always recognized the importance of establishing a presence in this key Latin American city,” said Danny Hughes, senior vice president, Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America for Hilton Worldwide.  “We couldn’t be happier to work with Estudio Lecueder, and look forward to welcoming travelers to experience all that Montevideo has to offer.”

Forming part of the award-winning, mid-priced brand that delivers high quality and value, the Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will be approximately 20 minutes from the international airport.  The hotel will be located inside the Montevideo Shopping Mall and directly across from the World Trade Center - both of which were developed by Estudio Lecueder.  Perfect for both business and leisure travelers, Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will offer guests first-class accommodation in the upscale Pocitos neighborhood.

“We continue to grow the Hilton Garden Inn brand globally and have had a dedicated focus on introducing the brand in Latin America,” said Adrian Kurre, global head, Hilton Garden Inn.  “Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo is a perfect example of taking our brand to new markets and being the first choice for travelers seeking upscale and affordable accommodation throughout the region.”
