Turkey boosts tourism offering with four new hotels

Hilton Worldwide has signed agreements on four hotels in Turkey to further boost its portfolio in the country to 24 trading properties and 25 in its development pipeline.

This latest announcement sees Hilton Worldwide expand its existing presence in Istanbul and the port city of Izmir, home to Turkey’s third largest urban population, with two new hotels in each city.

The deals span the DoubleTree by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton brands, all of which are rapidly expanding in Turkey.

Jim Holthouser, executive vice president, global brands, Hilton Worldwide said: “Turkey is one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic destinations, where we are developing a truly multi-brand presence.

“These four hotels across three different brands, located in the great cities of Istanbul and Izmir, will offer even greater choice to our guests, be they domestic or international travellers.”

Hilton Garden Inn Istanbul Beylikduzu is a 126 guest room hotel located within a mixed use retail space in one of Western Istanbul’s fastest growing suburbs.

When the property opens in 2015 it will boast signature HGI brand attributes including an all-day dining restaurant, 24 hour Pavillion Pantry, business and fitness centres.

Guests will also be able to take advantage of an indoor swimming pool, five meeting rooms totalling 500 square metres and a substantial car park.

It will be operated by Dogme Gayrimenkul Yatirim.

Hampton by Hilton Istanbul Dolapdere is a 170 guest room hotel to be operated by Gevrekli Turizm.

Located in central Istanbul, the new build hotel will open in 2016 and boast signature guest services of the award winning Hampton by Hilton brand.

DoubleTree by Hilton Izmir - Alsancak sees the existing Yildizhan Hotel convert in 2014 following a $1m refurbishment.

The 115 guest room property benefits from a central location, close to the existing Hilton Izmir, and will be operated by İzzet Yıldızhan Turizm.

Features include a restaurant and bar; 800 square metre meeting space including four independent meeting rooms; fitness centre and spa; business centre and car park.

Hilton Garden Inn Izmir Bayrakli is a 182 guest room hotel, due to be operated by Ozgun Insaat.

Due to benefit from a convenient location just north of the city’s port and central district, the hotel will also offer all core HGI signature features when it opens in 2016.

Guests will have the option to stay in one of eight suites, utilise any of four stand-alone meeting rooms, while also benefiting from valet parking.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president development, Europe and Africa, Hilton Worldwide said: “We remain very optimistic about the long term potential of Turkey as a dynamic business and tourism destination, one which continues to break its own international visitor number records year-on-year.

“It remains one of our core global growth markets, and these additions to our portfolio speak to our commitment to this region.”

The start of 2014 will see the significant opening of Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center, while Hilton Istanbul Kozyatagi
Conference Center & Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Malatya are set to open later in the year, further enhancing Hilton Worldwide’s Turkish offering.
