Heathrow to welcome new American Philadelphia flight

American Airlines will give customers another choice for trans-Atlantic travel when it launches new daily daytime service from Philadelphia International Airport to London Heathrow Airport on March 29th, 2015.

The new flight complements American’s existing PHL-LHR service and underscores the airline’s commitment to serving Philadelphia and creating the best network in the world with the most convenient options to get customers where they want to go.

“One of the benefits of our merger is that we can enhance the service our customers have enjoyed for years in each of our nine hubs,” said Chuck Schubert, American’s vice president of network and schedule planning.

“We have flown from Philadelphia to London for 15 years and customers traveling through our PHL hub have unrivalled access to hundreds of destinations in the United States, Europe and beyond.”

American’s second PHL-LHR flight will provide a convenient daytime departure option for customers connecting from airports along the East Coast, further cementing American and British Airways as the top choice for travel from the United States to London.

The new flight will be operated with a US Airways Boeing 757-200 and will depart Philadelphia at 09:55, arriving in London at 22:10.

In the return journey the plane will leave London at 08:20 and land at 11:35 in the United States.

American’s PHL-LHR service will continue to be operated as part of the airline’s joint business agreement with fellow oneworld member British Airways.

Together, the two airlines offer customers four daily flights year-round between Philadelphia and London.

From London, American’s customers have access to more than 70 destinations in Europe on British Airways.

The largest airline in the world also is the airline with the most extensive network out of Philadelphia.

American offers more than 475 daily flights to 124 destinations from its PHL hub, giving customers traveling from Europe access to the most important business markets in the United States.

From Philadelphia, American’s customers can also enjoy year-round service to Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Madrid, Manchester, Munich, Paris and Tel Aviv, as well as seasonal service to other popular European destinations including Athens, Barcelona, Glasgow, Lisbon, Rome, Shannon, Venice and Zurich.
