GTMC outlines plans for Qatar conference

The Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) chief executive Anne Godfrey has announced Doha, Qatar will host the 2012 overseas conference.

Running from May 11th-13th, the event will have Qatar Airways as headline sponsor, and will be held at the stunning Starwood W Hotel overlooking the Arabian Gulf.

Anne Godfrey said: “Qatar Airways is a very active GTMC Partner and I am delighted that the airline is next year’s headline sponsor.

“Our delegates will have the opportunity to experience the acclaimed service, which has been awarded the highest ‘Five Star’ ranking by independent aviation industry monitoring agency Skytrax and also recently named Airline of the Year by the same very organisation.”

Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker said:  “On behalf of Qatar Airways, I am delighted the airline has partnered with the GTMC to jointly organise this year’s conference in Doha.

“The UK business travel community has been a firm supporter of Qatar Airways over the years and we look forward to welcoming this very important group of travel professionals to my country next year, where we will provide the genuine hospitality that we are so renowned for as an airline and as a country.”

Qatar Airways was recently recognnised as offering the Middle East’s Leading Airline Business Class by the World Travel Awards.

Ms Godfrey added: “The GTMC annual overseas conference is easily the most prestigious business travel conference on the calendar.

“Attendees include the senior executives from our member travel management companies - in many instances the owner or founder - the people who shape the UK business travel industry.

“GTMC partners send representatives and we always have high profile speakers both from and outside the travel industry.”
