Green Globe supports Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association education foundation

Green Globe Certification supports the Caribbean Hotel&Tourism Association Education Foundation-Haiti Fund (CHTAEF-Haiti Fund) and recently donated US$2,000 to purchase 5 netbooks with MS software for surviving Haiti hotel school students who lost their institution as a result of the devastating earthquake of January 12 in 2010.

The Haitian government identified tourism as a priority axis for sustainable long-term development, and Haitian Hoteliers reached out to CHTAEF for assistance in growing the surviving students, tourism, and hotel workers skills and knowledge. CHTAEF-Haiti Project is a resource for the development of young Haitians wishing to join hospitality facilities in Port au Prince and environs when they re-open.

“The students have worked hard to this point and achieved enormous professional success,” said Louise John, Trustee and Project Lead with CHTAEF-Haiti, “These young people are shining examples of modern hospitality to their fellow Haitians. Our dreams for their future can only be realized with donations, and we are very grateful for Green Globe Certifications’ generous contribution. Eighteen of our students have been offered places at the Antigua&Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute, The Barbados Community College, and the St. Martin University to study for their Associate Degrees in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts or Food, and Beverage Management.”

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, commented, “The Caribbean is one of our strongest performing areas worldwide in regards to sustainability, and I am more than happy to assist with the needs in that area.”
