Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Zhu Xiaodan, together with Guangdong provincial government officials visited the MTR Corporation for an update on the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.

The Chairman of MTR Corporation Dr Raymond Ch’ien, Chief Executive Officer Mr Jay Walder and Secretary for Transport and Housing Ms Eva Cheng accompanied the visitors and gave an overview of the project’s progress.
“The express rail link’s Hong Kong section is expected to be completed in 2015, and it will bring Hong Kong much closer to other major mainland cities when it is connected to the country’s high-speed railway network. We believe it will further enhance Hong Kong’s role as the southern gateway to the mainland and continue to strengthen cross-boundary social and economic ties,” said Dr Raymond Ch’ien.
The delegation also toured Kowloon Station and Elements for an appreciation of MTR Corporation’s “Rail plus Property” integrated business model before enjoying a ride on Airport Express.
