Germanwings links London Stansted with Düsseldorf

Germanwings has launched a new route from Düsseldorf to London Stansted Airport.

Düsseldorf is a fantastic European hot spot, having just been voted the German city with the best quality of life for the second time running, it boasts a fascinating historical old town and upmarket shopping district Königsalle.

Architectural highlights include the harbour and a plethora of museums and theatres for example the Museum für ZuschauKunst or the Akademie-Galerie, which holds a considerable collection of artworks comprising paintings, sculptures, object art, and photography.

For those who fancy a drink or two Düsseldorf also houses ‘the longest bar counter in the world’, a phrase used to describe the hundreds of bars, pubs and breweries in Düsseldorf’s old town.

Heinz Joachim Schöttes as senior vice president corporate communications for Germanwings, said: “It’s great to be able to launch this new connection from Düsseldorf to London Stansted.

“Düsseldorf is an incredible mix of Rhineland charm, history, arts, and culture, and we’re pleased to be able to make this area more accessible for UK businesses and tourists.”

Stansted is well connected by train to Liverpool Street Station in London and has excellent transport links to the south-east of England.

Andrew Harrison, Stansted Airport managing director, said: “Stansted is the UK’s leading airport for direct connections across Europe and this new route gives passengers even greater choice.

“Airline expansion to new markets is always an exciting development and I’m delighted to welcome to Stansted the first Germanwings service between Düsseldorf and London, which I’m sure, will be very popular for both business and leisure travel.”
