Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, today announces that Genares Worldwide Reservation Services, a leader in hotel reservations solutions, is the first hotel reservations company to implement Travelport XML Pro Technology Solution to access Travelport’s GDS systems. Travelport XML Pro Technology interface links real time rates and availability from the Genares reservations system into Travelport’s three core GDS platforms, thereby eliminating the need for the hotel group to route via a switch company.
Travelport customers now have access to real time rates, availability, and rules for Genares’ 3000 hotel properties spread across the globe. Among the brands under the Genares central reservation system are: Jin Jiang in China; Lexington Collection, America’s Best Value Inns, Boutique Desires, Oxford Inns, Wynn, Encore and Treasure Island and Shilo Inns in the U.S.
Built over the Internet using Travelport XML Pro data exchange technology, the interface allows Genares to streamline transactions for its hotels using a cost-efficient and direct electronic path to the Worldspan and Galileo GDSs. Significantly it will position the hotel group to reduce its distribution costs by only supporting a single connection to both GDS platforms. Travelport-connected travel agents will also benefit from significant improvements in response times and a more efficient purchasing experience.
Ursula Rhode, chief operating officer, Genares Worldwide Reservation Services, said, “With the implementation of Travelport XML Pro Technology Solution, we are able to achieve faster response times, faster time to market of new enhancements and reduced distribution costs.” Added Rhode, “The Travelport XML solution allows Genares to take advantage of more flexible technology and enhanced functionality.”
According to Niklas Andreen, group vice president hospitality and partner marketing, Travelport GDS, “Travelport XML Pro Technology Solution provides efficiency and cost-effectiveness, significantly reducing distribution costs for hotel companies by enabling a single connection to both GDS platforms. The integration of Travelport’s global marketplace of approximately 60,000 travel agencies worldwide with the Genares reservation system will help provide global scale to Genares participating hotel properties. Travelport-connected travel agents also benefit from significant improvements in response times and a more efficient purchasing experience.” Added Andreen, “Genares is well known for its industry-leading technology. Several years ago, they were the first hotel customer to adopt Worldspan’s OTA based XML Content delivery product, and we are particularly pleased to partner with them and see them become the first hotel reservations company to now implement the Travelport XML Pro Technology Solution.”
