GBTA announces new regional director for Europe

GBTA today announced the appointment of Catherine McGavock to the position of Director, Operations for Europe.

Ms McGavock will replace Paul Tilstone as the regional head for Europe, and will be responsible for developing GBTA Europe as a region and overseeing the delivery of the association’s full membership, events, education & training and advocacy programmes.

Ms McGavock has worked for GBTA in Europe since the spring of 2012 in a role leading marketing, membership and events.  She has previously run her own event management and marketing partnership and held senior marketing posts at The Bank of Ireland and Capita Group, including time as Marketing Director at Capita Business Travel.  She will report to Paul Tilstone, who recently transitioned to the role of SVP Global Operations, now responsible for overseeing regional operations across GBTA’s six regions; North America, Latin America, Asia, Australasia, Africa and Europe.

On Ms McGavock’s appointment, Paul Tilstone commented, ‘I am delighted to welcome Catherine to this role. She has already made a valuable contribution to us as our lead in Marketing & Events and she has proven to be a great asset to GBTA in Europe.  The investment in this role is a clear indication of GBTA’s ongoing commitment to being a global organisation and to Europe in particular’.

Ms McGavock, who will start the role on 1st January 2013, said, ‘I feel very privileged to be leading GBTA in Europe. It offers such excellent value to its members through the networking; research and resources on GBTA Hub as well as its education programmes and the events we deliver in the region. I look forward to working closely with our partner associations here in Europe to develop member engagement and to promote the interests of the business travel industry in the region. We will of course also be looking to grow our membership base in new territories throughout the continent.’
