Fujairah City Centre attracts record number of tourists

Fujairah City Centre attracts record number of tourists

The first quarter of 2014 has already marked record highs in tourist footfall at Fujairah City Centre. In 2013, Fujairah has seen a 17% increase in the number of tourists. To accommodate the rising number of tourists, Fujairah City Centre has enhanced their shuttle service, which transports tourists from five major hotels to the mall. Between November 2012 and April 2013, an average of 1,000 tourists visited Fujairah City Centre every Wednesday from the cruise liners docked by Fujairah Port.

Since its opening in April 2012, Majid Al Futtaim’s Fujairah City Centre has been at the epicenter of development in the emirate, building upon Fujairah’s tourism aspirations. Investing AED400 million to build the largest shopping mall in the emirate has created 1,200 jobs, stimulating economic growth. Residents of Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain as well as international tourists enjoy the offerings of Fujairah City Centre, which is the first integrated shopping, leisure and entertainment destination of its kind.

“In only two years, Fujairah City Centre managed to carve out a space in Fujairah as a desirable tourist destination, as it offers visiting guests a premium shopping and entertainment destination, complimenting their leisure pursuits in the emirate,” said Majed Al Fahim, Senior Manager for Fujairah City Centre. “We are continually reinventing ourselves and developing new strategies to sustain continued growth, while catering to the changing cultural landscape of the emirate.”

Shuttle services are now available 7 days a week on two routes. The first bus route goes to Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort, Sandy Beach Hotel & Resort and Radisson Blu Resort. The second bus route goes to Oceanic Khorfakkan Resort & Spa and Hilton Fujairah Resort. Following the addition of Oceanic Khorfakkan Resort & Spa in 2013, shuttle use increased by 87% compared to 2012, and has increased by 248% in 2014 from the previous year.

In tandem with ongoing efforts by The Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Authority to promote the emirate’s historical sites and 90km coastline along the Gulf of Oman, Fujairah City Centre has seen an increase in traffic from tourists as well as the local community. Visitors enjoy Majid Al Futtaim’s integrated shopping experience, which merges international trends with the local fabric of the community, bringing 105 retail shops with the latest fashion trends, the most up to date Magic Planet family entertainment center, VOX Cinemas’ 11-screen state-of-the-art movie theatre and exposure to an international palette of food and beverage options. Fujairah City Centre offerings have in fact transformed the cultural landscape of Fujairah, while fulfilling the tastes of a growing international scene.
