On Saturday, September 17, 2011, Four Seasons Hotel Washington DC will be proud to host the 31st Annual Sprint Four a Cure, a 5K run/walk at Four Seasons Hotel Washington benefiting the Washington Hospital Center Cancer Institute.
“Until there is a cure, and while there is room for improvements in quality of life and supportive care, clinical research is of utmost importance toward the betterment of cancer patients’ health and welfare – now and in the future,” states Christian Clerc, regional vice president and general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC.
“We are truly grateful for the long-standing partnership with Four Seasons Hotel Washington. Over the past decade the Hotel staff, by raising more than USD 607,000.00, has made innovative cancer therapies available through research at the Washington Cancer Institute. This has ultimately benefited countless patients in our community and region. As a result of Four Seasons commitment and dedication we were able to build a new research center this year,” says Dr. Sandra M. Swain, Medical Director at Washington Hospital Center’s Cancer Institute.
Tommy McFLY and Kelly Collins from Fresh 94.7 will kick off the morning with a special 100-yard dash for children 5-12 years old before the 5K starts. The fee for individual runners is USD 35.00 before September 9 and USD 40.00 after. Every participant will receive one raffle ticket for registering and a t-shirt commemorating this special event. The ticket received at registration qualifies all participants to win prizes from around DC, including spa, restaurants and much more. There are also three options for team sponsorships:
Titanium Team Sponsor: USD 2,000.00 includes a large logo on race t-shirt, individual banner at finish line, company link and logo displayed on website and ten race entries
Gold Team Sponsor: USD 600.00 includes a medium logo on race t-shirt and five race entries
Silver Team Sponsor: USD 300.00 includes a small logo on race t-shirt and five race entries
The race will culminate with an awards ceremony for the top male and female runners, raffle drawings and a Four Seasons breakfast. First place male and female winners will receive a signature Four Seasons Hotel king mattress valued at USD 3,000.00.
Sprint Four the Cure will also feature a special appearance by sports reporter Britt McHenry of ABC7, who will announce the Grand Prize Raffle winners. The top prize is two round trip airline tickets courtesy of American Airlines and a two-night stay at Four Seasons Resort Vail. The second prize is a three-night stay at Grand Hotel Mackinac Island, Michigan including breakfast and dinner for two per day, and the third prize is a restaurant “dine around” for two in Washington, DC including three restaurants to enjoy cocktails and appetisers, dinner and drinks and conclude the evening with dessert and after dinner drinks. Tickets for the Grand Prize Raffle can be purchased before September 7 on active.com or at the Hotel’s Concierge desk for USD 60,00 for five tickets or increase chances to win by purchasing ten tickets for USD 100.00. Raffle tickets will also be sold the day of the event.
An annual event, Sprint Four the Cure is part of the global mission of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to help find a cure for cancer. So far this year the Hotel has raised USD 80,000.00 (not including operating costs) at the 11th Annual Drive Fore the Cure and the goal of this year’s Cure Events is to reach USD 100,000.00.
