Four Seasons Resort Hualalai introduces its own app

Four Seasons Resort Hualālai at Historic Ka‘ūpūlehu, the first and only AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star resort on Hawai ‘i Island, announces the launch of its own app. The Huakai’i (Hawaiian for “journey”) app highlights the rich culture, history and care of the land on which the Resort sits.

“This Resort has such an amazing and beautiful story,” says Robert Whitfield, regional vice president and general manager of Four Seasons Resort Hualālai. “This app gives us the opportunity to share the culture, sense of responsibility and aloha of our land with our guests near and far.”

Available for download on iTunes (or by searching “Huakai” or “Hualalai”), the complete tour, narrated by “Uncle” Earl Kamakaonaona Regidor, the Resort’s Cultural Center manager, is approximately one hour long. While it can be used to navigate the self-guided tour while at the Resort, this app also serves as interesting reading while one is at home, poolside or elsewhere, and can be experienced in pieces, allowing the guest to determine when and how long they spend exploring the app. An interactive property map also alerts guests to the nearest point of cultural interest or even the closest restaurant or pool.

Inside the app, guests are invited to learn how ancient Polynesians travelled across the ocean in canoes in search of a new life; about the plants that they brought with them to sustain life on the uninhabited islands; about the many uses of the historic ponds; and how the Hawaiians were true stewards of the land. They also learn what is being done today to care for and protect these ponds, and how they are providing a habitat for an endangered species; about the art and historic artifacts displayed throughout the property; and about the initiative to reforest Hawai’i Island, and other sustainable practices of Four Seasons and Hualālai Resort.
