Four Seasons Geneva hosts 5th annual run of hope

On Sunday, September 23, 2012, Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva has organized the 5th Run of Hope in collaboration with the ovarian cancer program of Ligue Genevoise Contre le Cancer. Departure will be in front of the Hotel on the small island Ile Rousseau at 10:30 am and the run will continue in front of the Hotel until the public park Perle du Lac.

The run is open to public and everybody is invited to join: adults and children, running, walking, on bicycles, rollerblades or with strollers. The goal is to participate and be there with friends and families.

All funds that are raised on this occasion will be entirely provided to the Ligue Genevoise Contre le Cancer, which is collaborating in this Run of Hope.

Why a Run of Hope?

The idea of the Run of Hope was born in Canada, home of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, in memory of a young Canadian, Terry Fox.

In 1979, Terry Fox had already lost a leg to cancer when he decided to run across Canada to raise money and awareness. After 143 days and 5373 kilometres (3,339 miles) he needed to abandon his mission as the cancer has reached his lungs. He passed away some days after.

All the country was touched by this Run of Hope, especially Isadore Sharp, founder of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, who wanted to maintain the memory of this young Canadian full of hope and organized the Terry Fox Run every year. Four Seasons hotels worldwide organize fundraising events for cancer research in their local communities.
