flythomascook sees Sharm el Sheikh flights take off in popularity

flythomascook.com, part of the Thomas Cook Group PLC, have seen the popularity of their number one Egyptian destination increase so much that they have had to bring in larger planes to cope with the additional demand for flights to Sharm el Sheikh.

“With the pound weak against the Euro at the moment, non-European destinations are incredibly popular, and Sharm el Sheikh has proved to be a runaway winner,” says head of flythomascook Henry Sunley. “This premier Egyptian destination offers value for money and guaranteed sunshine, something that’s high on everyone’s lists of priorities after the recent cold snap!” he adds.

flythomascook will be using bigger aircraft flying from Manchester airport to the Egyptian destination during the half term break. The larger capacity aircraft have been drafted in because of the huge increase in demand for holidays in Sharm el Sheikh. The flights leave Manchester airport at 09:00 and arrive in Sharm el Sheikh at 16:40.

Sharm el Sheikh is situated on the Sinai Peninsular between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai. It has been developed to cater for visitors, with facilities for couples and families alike. It offers some of the best diving and snorkelling experiences in the entire region, and there are plenty of diving schools along its shores where visitors can experience the underwater wonders of this stunning part of North Africa.

Sharm el Sheikh is a modern resort and is very family-orientated with high quality accommodation at low prices. It also makes the perfect base to explore some of the ancient wonders of Egypt and offers a value for money holiday during a time when European destinations are becoming more expensive because of the weak state of the pound.
“Holidays outside the Eurozone have been much more popular this year, especially as the credit crunch tightens and people want more value for their money,” says Sunley. “Destinations such as Sharm el Sheikh offer a cheaper alternative that don’t compromise on quality or excitement. People are getting more adventurous with their destination choices, and we’re delighted to be able to provide additional, low cost flights to enable our customers to experience a more exotic location,” he adds.
