Flybe marks first year success of Travelfusion API partnership

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline has reported that revenues of its Travelfusion powered API channel have jumped 42% over the past 12 months.  Flybe’s innovative XML API offers leading online booking tools and agencies the ability to directly connect to the Flybe’s inventory and ancillary services and manage the shopping, booking and post booking functions.

Commenting on the first 12 months of what, on launch, was a landmark trade project, Stephen Hobday Director of Sales at Flybe says: “There have been significant enhancements to flybe.com which Travelfusion has seamlessly integrated into the API to ensure the highest levels of connectivity for online booking customers. This innovation, backed by Travelfusion’s technical support teams in London and Shanghai, offers fresh, up-to-date content, adding value for customers by allowing choice, control and flexibility. I’m pleased to report that revenues through the API are soaring and currently running at 42% over this time last year.”

Adds Moshe Rafiah, CEO of Travelfusion: “We are delighted to see such a quick ROI in such a short period of time. The partnership with Flybe has been built on sharing a common vision of driving down the cost of distribution while increasing margins via ancillary services. Our technology and the direct connect model have demonstrated that it is the most cost effective distribution channel. We are seeing more airlines turn to direct connect which is a win-win for airlines and agents. Next on our list is the expansion of the model to the TMCs via our innovative Desktop solutions.”

Flybe’s relationship with Travelfusion is an endorsement of its support to the growing number of travel management companies that now use booking tools to take inventory direct from the web.
