Flybe honours its 10 millionth passenger out of Southampton Airport

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline and the UK’s number one domestic carrier, today honours its 10-millionth passenger to use its extensive route network to and from Southampton International Airport with a presentation to Bournemouth resident, Janet Cauchi, who is returning from Edinburgh this morning.

Mrs Cauchi will be presented with flowers and a 12-month complimentary pass to the airline’s Executive Lounge at Southampton along with a certificate to commemorate this historic milestone.

Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Rutter, said: “We are delighted to celebrate Ms Cauchi being our 10-millionth Flybe passenger to fly on one of the 720 flights a week we are offering this summer out of our Southampton base.”

Dave Lees, Managing Director of Southampton Airport, added: “As Flybe’s largest hub, we are delighted to be welcoming the airline’s 10-millionth passenger through our airport today.  It is even more special to be celebrating this key milestone in 2010, as this is the airport’s Centenary Year.  The fact that 10-million passengers have breezed through Southampton Airport on Flybe flights demonstrates just how popular their services are with both business and leisure passengers.”

Ms Cauchi has been taking advantage of Flybe’s daily service between Southampton and Edinburgh on a weekly basis for a number of months now and enthusiastically comments that the service allows business travellers further opportunity to make day return trips given its regular departure times.  Commenting on how it feels to be the airline’s 10- millionth passenger, she said: “It has quite taken my breath away. This week has seen many of my colleagues travelling between Edinburgh and Southampton with Flybe and it has made us all smile that I am the 10-millionth person!”
