Five killed at Florida airport shooting

At least five people have been killed and eight injured after a gunman wearing a star wars t-shirt opened fire at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport in Florida, according to reports.

Esteban Santiago, 26, from New Jersey, who has been identified as the gunman by multiple sources, has been taken into custody. It is thought that he held military ID.

The shooting happened just before 1pm local time at the baggage claim area inside Terminal 2.

The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport, located about 25 miles north of Miami, is a major hub between the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.
