Speaking about the event, Mr. Subodh Kant Sahay, The Union Minister for Tourism, Govt. of India said, “SATTE is a wonderful B2B platform and has representatives of so many countries. We do need closer cooperation with other countries to promote tourism. South Asian countries will have a long way to go as the region receives less than one percent of the global traffic.”

Mr. Vipul Mitra, Secretary, Gujarat Tourism added, “SATTE is indeed the biggest platform in the Indian sub-continent n travel and tourism. Gujarat as a state is now focusing in a major way on tourism and the emphasis has begun to show result.”

Speaking from the tourism industry perspective, Mr. Sajid Desai,Group Director, UBM India said, “SATTE as an industry platform continues to focus and grow the outbound, inbound and domestic market. The India outbound market has been the most robust in recent years. Over 12 million Indians travelled abroad last year. UNWTO has forecast this figure to increase to 50 million outbound by 2020. The inbound too continues to build the momentum and has been a great driver of the industry and the Ministry of Tourism hopes to achieve a figure of 8 million inbound tourists by 2015. Compared to 650 million travelers in 2010, the number of domestic travelers stood at 705 million in 2011. The combination of SATTE’s market leadership and UBM’s exhibition expertise will continue to ensure that SATTE exhibition is at the forefront of the industry expansion.”
