Fairmont St Andrews reopens after £17m renovation

The Torrance golf course at Scotland’s incredible Fairmont St Andrews has just reopened following a redesign, as part of a £17 million renovation programme at the resort.

After an 18-month closure for remodelling, the course is now firmly back on the international golf scene, and is hosting the Scottish Senior Open from 21-23 August. Having resculpted the course, designer Sam Torrance will be among those keen to perform well and improve on his runner up place in 2008 behind Peter Mitchell.

Located just south of St Andrews, the Fairmont is a five-star luxury resort with 209 rooms and suites. The resort has undergone an extensive renovation over the past 18 months, including an £18,000 per key investment on all rooms.

The Fairmont Spa Collection has been expanded to 9,000 square feet, and now boasts the very latest in spa and wellness treatments.

The Fairmont St Andrews has been nominated by the World Travel Awards in the “Europe’s Leading Golf Resort” category. It also was voted Resort Hotel of the Year 2008 by Golf Tourism Scotland.
