A new Kilkenny Culture Trail has just been launched extending the availability of the city’s cultural entertainment offerings such as heritage venues, theatres, sporting events and food and drink, over the next few months.

Showcasing the diverse range of cultural offerings in Kilkenny, the ultimate goal of the new trail is to create more business for the area. Taking inspiration from the Savour Kilkenny Food Festival, a number of Kilkenny’s leading Restaurants, Pubs and Hotels are also working closer together to further improve visitor engagement.
Speaking about the Trail, Amanda Horan, Fáilte Ireland Client Services Officer for Kilkenny, said:

“We are excited about working with the work of the Destination Kilkenny steering group and Kilkenny Local Authorities developing this new Kilkenny Culture Trail initiative. There was a great spirit of co-operation between all tourism and culture businesses in the process, all of whom play a crucial part in the continuous improvement and on-going success of Kilkenny as a tourism destination.

“By assisting visitors to engage with more cultural offerings and encouraging them to stay longer in Kilkenny it will bring real benefits to the city’s cultural partners.”

Meanwhile, over in Wexford, a new free Summer Trad and Culture Trail was also launched, just in time for the 2012 summer season.

The Trad trail features the best of traditional music and song each night of the week at ten different venues across Wexford town.  It will run until September and the experience is freely available to locals and visitors alike.

This new culture trail criss-crosses the town featuring a list of cultural attractions all open freely to visitors. The trail incorporates the wide variety of arts and culture that Wexford has to offer, with the Opera House and Arts Centre being of major significance to the area.

Commenting at the unveiling of Wexford’s Trad & Culture Trail, Fáilte Ireland’s Tara Kerry said:

“Now, with the launch of this new Trad & Culture Trail, there is even more to see and do.  With Wexford being synonymous with music and culture, this new trail epitomises all of the very best in traditional music and song. I encourage locals and holiday makers alike to enjoy the Trad nights and Culture evenings while visiting Wexford.”
