Eurostar introduces quiet coach facility

High-speed passenger service Eurostar is introducing a new quiet coach facility on-board all of its trains for travel from September.

Passengers booking Business and Standard Premier tickets for travel from September 11th onwards can choose a seat at no extra cost in a dedicated quiet coach at the time of booking. This service is being introduced in direct response to customer requests for the option of a quieter environment in which to work or wind down during their journey.

The arrival of quiet coaches is the latest in a range of enhancements being introduced to Eurostar’s flagship business service this year. Throughout June, Eurostar is also offering business customers an itinerary of exclusive events in all of its business lounges. These range from afternoon tea, beer tasting and spa treatments to a pastry chef workshop.

Reuben Arnold, Head of Commercial Development for Eurostar said: “The Eurostar onboard environment consistently wins plaudits from our business customers and we’re always looking for ways to make that experience even more rewarding.  Following a growing number of requests we are pleased to announce the arrival of quiet coaches for Business and Standard Premier travellers.

“We have invested considerably in our service for business travellers over recent months with passengers benefiting from a raft of innovation.  Our goal is to deliver the highest quality and most relaxing travel experience from the moment customers arrive at the station right through to arrival at their destination.”

In 2010 Eurostar announced a £700 million programme of investment in its fleet, including the complete overhaul and refurbishment of its existing trains and the purchase of 10 new trainsets.

This investment will ensure Eurostar can deliver the best possible service to its passengers as it expands its operations. The arrival of refurbished and new trains from 2013 and 2014 respectively will give passengers access to on-board wifi and ‘info-tainment’ services including travel and destination information and interactive entertainment.
