Europcar reflects on its role leading up to and during London 2012

Europcar, the leader in car hire services in Europe, is reflecting on the part it played behind the scenes, supporting businesses involved in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Europcar’s support began well in advance of the events themselves, with the provision of a range of vans from the Europcar fleet for use during the construction of the stadiums and facilities within the Olympic village. This assistance helped the construction companies deliver state of the art venues that provided the setting for many historical moments from the Games.

Europcar vans also supported Olympic Games sponsor, BT, as it implemented its contract to install communications equipment in the Olympic village.

Once the Games had begun, security was of paramount importance to everyone involved.  As the largest provider of mobility to Olympic security services, Europcar had a key role in delivering a safe Games, providing hundreds of minibuses from its fleet to ensure security personnel could be moved between locations swiftly and efficiently.

Commenting on Europcar’s support behind the scenes of London 2012, Ken McCall, Managing Director, Europcar UK Group, said:  “The logistical support offered by companies such as ours, not just during the Games but also in the build-up to staging them, has been crucial in making sure these fantastic events were delivered successfully.

“The spotlight was really on everyone involved with the Olympics and Paralympics this summer, and we are extremely proud to have been involved, working with a number of contractors.  Keeping people and businesses moving is at the heart of Europcar’s philosophy and this was a perfect demonstration of our commitment to assisting mobility through all areas of business.”
