Emirates and Rolls-Royce leadership and development programme kicks-off

As part of a long-term agreement with Rolls-Royce, signed at the Dubai Airshow last November, the Emirates Group has sent its first contingent of UAE National Managers to commence training at the Rolls-Royce Learning and Career Development Centre in Derby, UK.

A total of 15 UAE Nationals from the Emirates Group have travelled from Dubai to take part in the development programme. The trainees, from various management roles within Emirates, will undertake a comprehensive 10 day course combining; case studies, group discussion, management scenarios and role play. The objective of this programme is to challenge the participants’ way of managing staff in the workplace.

“This dedicated programme from Rolls-Royce is a key element of our ongoing UAE National Development Unit, providing UAE National employees with various training initiatives to further develop their careers with Emirates. The first intake of students to this programme is yet another step in our ongoing goal to provide UAE National employees with informative and intelligent training opportunities,” said Nasser Bin Kherbash, Divisional Senior Vice-President, HR Development and Employee Services.

“The Rolls-Royce Leadership programme is incredibly innovative, helping to develop core leadership effectiveness skills for the students, within a practical industrial context. We have no doubt that it will make our trainees even more invaluable to the organization.”

The leadership training programme, which is the first of its kind in the UAE, was signed by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates airline and Group and Rob Watson, Rolls-Royce Regional Director, during the Dubai Airshow last November.

The first module of this programme is delivered in two phases, at the award winning Rolls-Royce Learning and Career Development Centre in Derby, in addition to a time at Oxford University.

Masooma Hassan, Emirates Vice President National Development and Recruitment, who has worked closely with Rolls-Royce in the development of this programme, escorted the first group of attendees to evaluate their engagement in the course.

“Determining the right candidates to undertake this training is a challenging task given we have such a strong UAE National workforce within Emirates. I am incredibly impressed with the aptitude displayed by the current trainees and am confident that they will absorb a wealth of valuable skills that can be imparted across the Emirates Group,” said Masooma Hassan.

During the first instalment on this course the attendees will gain valuable expertise and skills in leadership, team management, performance management and personal effectiveness.
