Elegant Hotels’ Tamarind opens, transforming the island’s west coast

Elegant Hotels’ Tamarind opens, transforming the island’s west coast

The former Tamarind Cove Hotel has reopened as the new “Tamarind,” following a multi-million dollar renovation.

Tamarind is set on one of the most beautiful stretches of beachfront in all of Barbados, and when combined with Elegant Hotels’ stylish adjacent boutique hotel, The House, and neighbouring beachfront Zagat rated Daphne’s Restaurant, the re-launch marks the arrival of an entirely new and affordable destination on Barbados’ West Coast.

Tamarind features fully renovated and modernised guestrooms, the addition of an intimate spa and relaxation space—with a range of body services inspired by local ingredients such as Bajan sea salt and Barbadian Moscovado brown sugar—and two completely redesigned and reimagined restaurants. Pool and communal areas at Tamarind feature contemporary sun loungers, day beds and decks, transforming outdoor spaces into outdoor ‘living rooms’ and providing flexible spaces for dining, drinking, relaxing and events. Tamarind simultaneously offers a romantic atmosphere for couples and great facilities for families.

The changes at Tamarind are not limited to physical amenities alone; the hotel is launching a series of new programs that will be rolled out across the entire Elegant Hotels collection. These include the new “Aqua School,” offering complimentary watersports and instruction, ranging from stand up paddle boarding to snorkelling, waterskiing and more, along with “The Flying Fish Kids Club,” which encourages a range of fun filled activities for kids, while the ‘“Club Tamarind” teen lounge provides a “cool” place to hang out with large-screen Wii, popular game consoles and “disco” nights.

Tamarind will also be the launch pad to explore the highlights of Barbados, thanks to a wide range of packages and opportunities made available to guests, including “Discover Barbados” excursions, and the “Surf Barbados” package. Through the signature “Taste of Elegance” program, guests are privy to dining options at all hotels and restaurants in the Elegant Hotels collection during a single stay, made easier by way of an exclusive daytime water-taxi service.

New restaurant options at Tamarind include ocean front dining at 246 Bar & Restaurant, catering to sophisticated palates with a menu of inspired international cuisine, while Rilaks Deck turns out trendy small plates and cocktails in an outdoor living area evoking South Beach Miami.  Evening events include Sunday “Jazz and R&B” nights, a “Caribbean Asian Buffet,” on Mondays, the “Signature Seaside Grill” on Wednesdays, and of course, the “Caribbean Rum Bar” on Fridays.
