Eilat hit by two rockets

At least two rockets have hit the southern Israeli Red Sea resort of Eilat, according to reports.

Police revealed the rockets landed in open areas, without causing damage or injury. The Israeli military have stated that they were fired from Sinai in Egypt.

Warning sirens went off prior to the rockets hitting.

Eilat, a popular tourist destination on the Red Sea, is a narrow stretch of water bordered by Sinai on one side and Saudi Arabia on the other. It has previously been hit by rockets fired by militants in neighbouring countries.

The Egyptian military is investigating the incident.
