EIBTM CEO Summit to take place on November 30th

The EIBTM CEO Summit, now in its 6th year, will take place on Wednesday, November 30, at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona. This global forum will bring together over 60 C-level executives from across the meetings and incentive industry to learn and debate insights and trends that can and will affect and influence their respective businesses now and in the future.

The key theme for this year’s EIBTM CEO Summit will center on “Global Events” and include a succinct and thoroughly up-to-date analysis of the global economy from Professor Dominic Swords - with particular reference both to the Eurozone and the region’s critical debt crisis, plus an insight into the expanding opportunities within the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) economies.

Dominic has a background in the city working in economic intelligence at the Bank of England. He is a regular contributor to a number of TV and Radio programs including CNBC’s “Strictly Money,” News 24, and BBC’s “Financial World Tonight.” Dominic’s international experience includes client projects in the EU, US, the Far East, and Australia.

Jeremy Garbett, CEO Summit Chair and Founding Director for Deeper Blue Ltd., commented on the program of events for this year’s summit: “It’s a deliberate step back to look at the broader picture and for the invited CEO audience to have the opportunity to network and debate the more global aspects that continually swirl around and affect our industry. Feedback from our CEO Summit in Baltimore this year has been outstanding, and we look to offer a similar depth and brevity of world-class speakers supported within a challenging and engaging agenda in our forthcoming Barcelona program.”

Following this, the focus of the summit will steer towards tackling the challenges that the evolving communications environment presents as it rapidly develops.
Ewan McLeod, Social Media Expert and Founder of Mobile Industry Review, will map out the growth in global interconnectivity via mobile technology and consider the existence, application, and relevance of specific advances in social media for meeting and event planners.

Finally, professional speaker, PR expert, journalist, and crisis communication expert, Alan Stevens, (one of the top 10 media experts in Europe, The Independent) will present an analysis on how to plan more effectively. He will consider the impacts this could have on potential management of a crisis or global event and the ways in which these tools can be used in relation to both traditional and social media.

Graeme Barnett, Reed Travel Exhibitions Event Director EIBTM, commented: “Our compelling annual summit provides a powerful opportunity for an invited audience of top industry players to come together and shape the future of our industry. We are dedicated to ensuring our CEO Summit program is tailored to the meetings industry and that our speakers are of the highest caliber. The summit is well on its way in educating, inspiring, and captivating industry leaders from across the globe.”

This year’s CEO Summit will be facilitated by Nadine Dereza, a specialist business presenter and accomplished interviewer, previously reporting for CNN, Sky TV, BBC, Talk Radio, Simply Money, SABC, and Summit TV. As London Markets Correspondent for the Financial Times, Nadine was awarded “Financial Journalist of the Year.” Nadine is a permanent fixture on the corporate circuit, chairing and facilitating numerous conferences and live events for a diverse range of businesses and organizations, across many different sectors globally.

EIBTM 2011 takes place November 29–December 1, 2011, Barcelona.
