Egypt seeks transparency in social media

In a bid to engage with fans of Egypt, the ETA has launched its official UK Facebook page.

Offering fans the opportunity to discover the real Egypt, from rural and city retreats, to local arts, crafts and festivals, LoveEgyptUK will, among other things, provide travel information, updates and tips for planning a holiday to Egypt.

In addition to showcasing Egypt’s sandy beaches, excellent golf courses, spa and wellness retreats and Egyptian experiences, the ETA will use the page to inspire new and returning UK holidaymakers to the country.

LoveEgyptUK will also be used as a platform for the ETA to provide travel and safety updates.

“We are thrilled to launch our first social media platform and hope it will encourage returning UK holidaymakers, and new holidaymakers to visit Egypt.

“In doing so, it will allow the LoveEgyptUK fans to share their experiences, giving other fans insights into the delights Egypt has to offer,” said Omayma El Husseini, UK & Ireland director, Egyptian Tourist Authority.

“By investing in our online presence, we will be able to reach out to British travellers in a modern and open way.

“Transparency is very important to us, and we want to ensure that we use Facebook as a means of communicating with fans about travel safety, reminding travellers that, with the current exception of Cairo and Northern Sinai, Egypt is a safe holiday destination,” added El Husseini.

As part of the pages’ development plan, LoveEgyptUK will host polls and competitions to inspire engagement among the pages’ community.
