East Midlands Trains mark new breakfast service

Two singing butlers will be handing out complimentary breakfast rolls to customers between 07.30 and 08.30 on Monday 7 October at Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield stations.

Hundreds of free breakfast rolls will be given away to customers travelling through Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield on Monday morning to mark the launch of East Midlands Trains brand new First Class offer and to celebrate the start of National Customer Service Week.

The new service, which will be launched on Monday 7 October, will see the introduction of a complimentary breakfast for First Class customers on services arriving into London before 10.00 on weekdays. A brand new all-day menu will also be launched on 7 October with the introduction of tasty dishes such as antipasto, chilli con carne, vegetable tagine and a cheese platter.  Customer favourites such as the East Midlands Ploughmans and the classic burger will remain on the menu, with all dishes priced from just £4.50.

Popular alcoholic drinks will also be available to purchase in First Class including a double Gordon’s gin and tonic priced at just £3.50.

To celebrate the launch of the new First Class offer, traditionally dressed butlers will be handing out hundreds of free bacon and sausage rolls to customers passing through Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield stations between 07.30 and 08.30 on Monday 7 October.  The butlers will also have a further surprise up their sleeve as they treat morning commuters to a rendition of the famous Oliver song “Food, Glorious Food”. There will also be an opportunity for all customers to enter a prize draw to win a pair of First Class tickets.

Neil Micklethwaite, Customer Service and Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “This is a great new initiative that we know will be welcomed by our customers. From Monday 7 October, First Class customers travelling on 25 trains every weekday will receive a free breakfast from East Midlands Trains.  Prices of our First Class tickets will remain the same, so this will deliver a fantastic additional benefit, all at no extra cost to the customer.

“We know that when deciding what ticket to buy, our customers look for the added extras to ensure they are getting value for money.  The launch of our new complimentary breakfast and exciting new menu, coupled with the free WiFi we already offer in First Class, means that First Class travel becomes more attractive and affordable for customers.

“We hope customers enjoy their free breakfast roll and that it will tempt them to join us on the train for a First Class journey to London, where breakfast will now always come free.”

In addition to the improvements in First Class, East Midlands Trains will also be re-instating buffet cars on its weekend services which all passengers can use to purchase their refreshments.  This will replace the existing trolley service being used at weekends. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be available from the buffet for First Class customers, compliments of East Midlands Trains.

The new complimentary breakfast will be available to all passengers travelling on weekday services arriving into London before 10.00 and on trains departing from London before 09.00.  The Great British Breakfast will be available on a selected number of peak services, whilst a lighter breakfast with a choice of breakfast roll, fruit, yoghurt, cereal or pastry are available on other morning services.
