East Coast customers asked to ‘print their own’

Following the lead of low-cost airlines around the world, East Coast have introduced ‘print your own’ tickets.

The tickets are available for direct journeys on the line’s trains - with customers urged to booked online at the East Coast website - between Scotland, North East England, Yorkshire, the East Midlands and London.

The ‘click and go’ tickets allow customers to print out their own tickets at their own convenience when making a booking.

When a customer selects the print at home option, a travel ticket is automatically emailed to them as an electronic pdf file, ready for them to print whenever they choose.

All Advance Purchase tickets for journeys made wholly on East Coast trains can be printed at home, following successful trials on the operator’s busy Leeds to London route.

The 100,000th East Coast customer to buy a print at home ticket via the website was Dr Tessa Homfray, from Hampshire, who travelled this week from London to Newcastle.

Dr Homfray said: “Print at home ticketing is easy to use and very convenient for busy people: there’s no waiting for tickets to arrive, it’s simply a matter of printing out your own ticket and using it to travel.

“I was amazed and delighted at how easy it is to use. I’ll certainly be using print at home the next time I book a rail journey with East Coast – it’s hassle-free and saves me a lot of time.”
