Dusit secures new resort in Phuket

In keeping with its aggressive expansion plan, leading Asian hospitality group Dusit International ushers in the New Year with the announcement of a new resort to its growing dusitD2 brand, the dusitD2 Phuket Resort in Thailand.

Located only one block from the island’s popular Patong Beach and within walking distance from the Jungceylon shopping and leisure complex, the vibrant dusitD2 Phuket Resort aims to become a destination in its own right, boasting 390 stylish guest rooms and suites and an array of iconic lifestyle and entertainment outlets including a Hard Rock Café.

“The dusitD2 Phuket Resort is an excellent product in a great location,” said the hotel owner, Gary Murray, chief executive, Destination Resorts Co.

“Now with Dusit on board to manage the hotel’s operations, in addition to a number of exciting, soon-to-be announced lifestyle and entertainment partnerships, we believe that the dusitD2 Phuket Resort will be an excellent choice for guests looking for the perfect combination of sun, sea and impeccable service.”

The hotel is currently scheduled for an April 2014 re-branding date.

The hotel is also developing a scenic rooftop bar and a spa with nine treatment rooms to add to the hotel’s destination appeal.

“With 8 dusitD2 hotels in the pipeline, from California, USA to Nairobi, Kenya, this year will certainly see a spotlight on the dusitD2 brand,” explained Dusit International group director of development, Rustom Vickers.

“We eagerly look forward to the dusitD2 Phuket Resort being the first of these hotels to open this year, and we are confident that its location on the island and comprehensive selection of attractions will make it a great success.”
