Dusit Fudu Hotels & Resorts, the Chinese joint venture hotel management company between leading Asian hospitality group Dusit International and local partners Changzhou Qiao Yu Group, has announced the signing of 15 hotel management agreements in its first year of operation.
In addition, there are more than 12 developments under negotiation in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Changsha, Zaozhuang, Chengdu and Guiyang.
China is a market with abundant opportunities, with domestic tourism a key driver of growth.
In 2013, number of domestic tourists stood at 3.25 billion with revenues of RMB2.54 trillion.
It is estimated that the number of domestic tourists in 2014 will reach 3.58 billion, representing a 12 per cent increase year-on-year and generate revenues of RMB2.85 trillion.
Hotels included as part of the joint venture include Dusit Devarana Hot Springs & Spa Conghua, Guangzhou (set to open in 2014), Dusit Devarana Dianchi Lake, Kunming (2016) and Dusit Devarana Fuxian Lake, Yunnan (2017).
“Dusit Fudu is on track to have 50 hotels within the next five years under its belt, despite being a newcomer in a competitive marketplace,” noted Lim Boon Kwee, president, Dusit Fudu Hotels & Resorts.
