DTCM Celebrates the culture and customs of the UAE at Barjeel Heritage Guest House

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, announced the opening of Barjeel Heritage Guest House, an impressive and inviting traditional Emirati guest house that will give tourists and residents a chance to step back in time and celebrate the culture and customs of the UAE.

Barjeel Heritage Guest House, located in Shandagha by the Dubai Heritage Village, officially opened its doors in a ceremony attended by Majid Al Marri, Director Classification from the Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and key management and staff of Planet Hospitality and Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa.

Mr. Al Marri commented: “We would like to congratulate Planet Hospitality for preserving our local heritage through Barjeel Heritage Guest House. We have seen an increase in the number of people visiting heritage sites in Dubai and there is a huge interest amongst tourists coming to Dubai to know about Emirati culture and traditions so the Barjeel Heritage Guest House will cater to this demand. Guests staying here will have the opportunity to experience the life of our people during the early years of the city. Everything that you will see here reflects the culture and tradition of our country so it’s like being a guest to an old Emirati family offering true Arabian hospitality.”

Mr. Al Marri added: “The department will soon open a section classifying this heritage guest houses because it is very important to promote the Emirati culture and we want the guests to have a real feel of the customs and traditions of our country.”

All rooms at Barjeel Heritage Guest House are furnished in Arabian theme with individually controlled air conditioned, en-suite bath, satellite television, mini fridge, in-room safe deposit box, and free wi-fi, IDD telephones. A round-the-clock butler service, dining, private function and events are also offered.

Surrounded by dining and seating area shaded by sun and beautiful landscaping, this restored historical house has spacious and large bedrooms overlooking the Courtyard. The Barjeel Heritage Guest House also features a traditional Arabic Restaurant called Barjeel Al-Arab Restaurant offering traditional Emirati, Lebanese and Cosmo cuisine for a fine culinary experience.
