Discover Brussels on your iPhone with the VISITBRUSSELS app

Brussels is now available in your pocket, or rather on your iPhone. One click gives you access to the VISITBRUSSELS app, the App Store’s most comprehensive guide to the Belgian capital. The app is free and once downloaded can be used entirely offline without incurring roaming charges. This handy visitor’s guide is available in French, English and Dutch.

“Tourism is vital to the Brussels economy, especially in terms of the number of direct and indirect jobs it creates. Our aim at VISITBRUSSELS is to provide an up-to-date service for visitors. The app is a logical next step in the development of services that provide payback in the form of an increase in the number of tourists visiting our capital city,” explains Philippe Close, City of Brussels Alderman for Tourism and President of VISITBRUSSELS.

Through the VISITBRUSSELS app, the Brussels tourist office can now provide visitors with an entirely practical and simple means of getting their bearings wherever they are. The offline GPS shows their precise location on a map of the Brussels region. From there, finding their way to any museum, park, restaurant, café or other attraction couldn’t be simpler. The database, which is updated daily, contains some 1,200 addresses. It is subdivided into around 20 search menus, for example things to do or to see, accommodation, places to eat and drink, etc. With a 3G or WiFi connection, it is even possible to book a hotel room directly or obtain directions.

“Today, Brussels is in the forefront of interactive tourism and keeps up to date with the latest trends in order to offer tourists, whether from Belgium or abroad, the best possible service.  This app provides the visitor with a guidebook which he can take wherever he goes.  In a few clicks, he can find the keys which will take him to the very best Brussels has to offer,” continues Christos Doulkeridis, Minister-President of the Brussels French Community Commission (COCOF) responsible for tourism.
