Directline Holidays reports 280% increase in all inclusive bookings

Online travel agent, directline holidays reports All Inclusive bookings are up by 280% in some destinations. Overall, directline holidays has seen a 59% increase on Summer Holiday sales.

The largest hikes are in destinations such as Mexico, Turkey and Malta which have seen increases of 280%, 139% and 125% respectively. Spanish bookings are also up 102% and Sharm El Sheikh, 94%.

Chief Executive, Maria Whiteman commented: “There are a number of reasons we are seeing an increase in popularity of the All Inclusive break. Primarily, the current economic climate has made the British public more price conscious and All Inclusive trips allow people to budget more effectively.

The All Inclusive package also helps consumers avoid escalating in resort costs. The Pound is now so weak against many foreign currencies that once affordable destinations have become expensive. In addition, savvy hoteliers in countries such as Egypt and Turkey are increasing prices in line with British demand for non Eurozone destinations.

Whilst directline holidays has seen significant growth for DIY flights and accommodation stimulated by last year’s surge in popularity for such holidays, many other travel brands are finding the ‘hidden extra’ levys being introduced by low-cost airlines are acting as a deterrent to the DIY route.

Holidaymakers are instead opting for All Inclusive and consumers have realised that holidays which appear affordable become prohibitively expensive once all the latant costs are taken in to account.

Ultimately, the British public want complete transparency on holiday costs and the All Inclusive trip affords them this security.”
