Devdutt Pattanaik to headline IBTM India Conference

The IBTM India Education programme will kick off on Thursday 12th of September with the IBTM India Conference (14:40-17:30), where Devdutt Pattanaik will deliver his keynote session, ‘Business Sutra - A very Indian approach to Management’ (15.15 – 16.15).

Devtutt, the best-selling author of ‘Business Sutra - A very Indian approach to Management’, will present a fresh perspective on leadership, entrepreneurship, governance and management through mythology, by comparing Jain, Buddhist and Hindu narratives with Greek, biblical and Chinese stories.

In his session, Devtutt will present a radical and nuanced approach to management, business and leadership in a diverse, fast- changing, and increasingly polarised world. He will convey the ways in which modern management is rooted in Western beliefs and obsessed with accomplishing rigid objectives and increasing shareholder value.

Devtutt comments “By contrast, the Indian way of doing business - as apparent in Indian mythology, but no longer seen in practice— accommodates subjectivity and diversity, and offers an inclusive, more empathetic way of achieving success. Great value is placed on darshan, that is, on how we see the world and our relationship with Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth”.

Following a networking break, the second half of the conference will facilitate a ‘Debate on the Global Meetings Industry’, which will take place form 16:45 – 17:45. The panelists include Marcel Ewals, Director Business Development, Kenes Asia; Anup Nair, Managing Director, Incentive Destinations, PVT Ltd. and Rajeev Kholi, Joint managing Director, Creative Travel.
