DABO & CO appointed to handle JW Marriott Marquis launch

Following a multi-agency competitive pitch, DABO & CO has been assigned the responsibility to organise the much anticipated launch of the JW Marriott Marquis this February.

The massive project, which will be the focus of global attention, will showcase the agency’s integrated ability with event management and digital activations running parallel to the property’s public relations activities, which are also being handled by the agency.

The JW Marriott Marquis is a stunning addition to Marriott International’s JW Marriott world-class luxury hotel brand.

At a height of 355 metres, the 1,608-room hotel is the tallest hotel building in the world and boasts more than 8,000sqm of indoor and outdoor event space, nine restaurants and five lounges, along with a world-class spa, health club and two ballrooms.

Speaking on awarding the contract, vice president sales & marketing, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, Jeff Strachan, said: “Following a comprehensive pitch process, we are delighted to have selected DABO & CO to plan and manage the grand opening event of our new JW Marriott Marquis.

“The DABO & CO team took time to thoroughly understand the brand principles of JW Marriott and positioned the grand opening plan around our target audience and aspirations for the hotel.

“We were impressed with the commitment to the event from the senior leadership team at DABO &CO and feel that we are in very safe and creative hands.”

The agency’s Event Management division is currently experiencing unprecedented success, delivering for a wide variety of leading international brands in 2012, including private equity player Abraaj Capital, international accountancy body ICAEW, Kate Spade NY, Chanel and celebrations for the 75th anniversary of Ray-Ban.

In the first quarter of 2013, DABO & CO will also be handling events for HSBC, Armani sunglasses and Cartier Polo.
