Cruise boom following concerns over ash and strikes

According to the Passenger Shipping Association’s latest review nearly four out of ten UK cruise holiday makers now embark on their cruise from a UK port. The majority however still opt for a fly cruise with its attendant added worries and stress about travel to and from the ship.

This year there may be more to worry about than before. The cruise news and reviews website www.cruisecritic asked cruise travellers about their worries cruising this summer. Topping the list was ash impacting on flights (60 percent) followed by airline strikes 17 percent, security delays (14 percent) and that perennial concern of hurricanes (nine percent).  “The answer to their worries could be to take advantage of the greatest choice of homeport cruises ever offered,” said Ian Rumgay of Cruise Critic.
