Costa partners with Notte Rosa Festival to celebrate the launch of Costa Favolosa
The Italian company’s brand new flagship Costa Favolosa will be dedicating its first night-time sailing to the Italian summer New Year’s Eve festival, the Notte Rosa, when the Adriatic Riviera turns pink.
In a dual celebration on the night of 1 July 2011, when Italy’s newest cruise ship departs on her premiere voyage from Venice, Costa Cruises will light up the sea with an exceptional fireworks display at 11:50pm. The people at the “Notte Rosa” non-stop pink party will be the first to welcome the new flagship in action.
Thanks to Costa Cruises’ social media outlets, the debut of the Costa Favolosa and the “Notte Rosa” Festival can also be followed on the innovative location-based social networking website FourSquare, which uses software for mobile devices to allow users to share their favourite businesses and services.
The Costa Favolosa symbolises Italian-made excellence, accommodating up to 3,800 guests and weighing in at 114,500 gross tonnes. As her name suggests (Favola is Italian for “fairy tale”), the Costa Favolosa is a veritable “wonder ship”; a perfect and sublime combination of fabulous atmosphere and state-of-the-art hi-tech fun. The main innovations on board this “contemporary enchanted castle” include six new veranda suites with their own Jacuzzis and a new entertainment area, aimed primarily at teenagers, with a 4D cinema and PlayStation World with PS3. There will also be a new children’s open-air Aqua Park water playground with its own pirate galleon.
The facilities will combine the very best of the Costa product: the Samsara Spa is one of the largest and most exclusive wellness centres ever built on a cruise ship; a large central lido extending over two decks with a sliding glass roof and giant movie screen; as well as a Grand Prix driving simulator and a golf simulator. The brand new design pool area is particularly large and inviting, with 1000m2 of space dedicated to relaxation and entertainment, 160 sun loungers, whirlpool tubs and an invigorating waterfall. The shipboard gym will offer all the latest state-of-the-art Technogym equipment and the “Favolosa” fine art collection on board will showcase around 60,000 original works and copies.
