The prestigious World Travel Awards has named the multi-award-winning Conrad Macao, Cotai Central the World’s Leading Green Hotel.

The awards ceremony took place in Doha, Qatar.

“Conrad Macao was honoured to have been named Asia’s Leading Green Hotel and China’s Best Green Hotel only two months ago,” said Mark McWhinnie, senior vice president of operations at Sands Cotai Central (the integrated resort wherein Conrad Macao resides).

“To now be recognised as the World’s Leading Green Hotel is phenomenal, and while Conrad Macao is extremely proud of its awards for service, quality and luxury, the entire team is very pleased to have their efforts in this area recognised in this way.”

Conrad Macao continues to implement numerous green initiatives, including having increased the annual Earth Hour first to a monthly and then a semi-monthly event.

A very successful challenge to its luxury hotel peers in Macao has now spread to Singapore, South Africa, the United States, and Hong Kong; additional Conrad hotels across Asia have begun gearing up to lay similar challenges in their respective cities.

“Conrad Macao has set a shining example for its industry peers,” said Andy Ridley, chief executive and co-founder, Earth Hour.

“Our organisation encourages individuals and businesses around the world to take the initiative to ‘go beyond the hour,’ and Conrad Macao has done just that with its efforts to extend the benefits of Earth Hour throughout the year.”
