Celebrate the Northern Thai Festival of Lights, at Four Seasons Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is a spectacular place to visit at any time of year, with its lush green rice fields, misty mountains, and golden temples that glint and twinkle in the warm, tropical sun. But for one night in November each year, the rivers are filled with light and the heavens glow as thousands of khomloy floating lanterns are released simultaneously into the sky. This is how the Thai festival of lights is celebrated in Northern Thailand, where the Lanna Yi Peng festival, famous for its floating lanterns, coincides with Loy Krathong, a countrywide festival where banana stem “floats” with candles are releases into rivers and lakes to carry away bad fortune.

And this year, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai has created a special package to let guests take part in the fun and enjoy what must surely be one of the world’s most incredible spectacles. The two-night Festival of Lights package is available between November 29 and December 1, 2012, and includes luxurious accommodations, daily breakfast for two, a special Loy Krathong dinner at Terraces, transfers to Chiang Mai to see the floating krathongs, and the chance to take part in and witness the spectacle of thousands of floating lanterns being launched simultaneously at Tudongkhasathan Lanna.

Come and see Chiang Mai at its most beautiful, and let Four Seasons reveal the wonders of the Festival of Lights.
