Carlson Rezidor under starters orders for charity cycle relay

Staff members at Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels across mainland UK are under starters orders for a charity cycle relay between 31 UK properties.

Starting in Glasgow on May 6th and ending in Southend-on-Sea on 20th May, the 1300+ mile journey is expected to take around 140 cycling hours and to raise £30,000 for a range of local UK charities.

Over 120 Carlson Rezidor staff members are currently in training for this serious physical challenge.

Relay legs range from the shortest at four and a half hours to a gruelling 12 hour stretch from Edinburgh to Durham.

The initiative is part of Carlson Rezidor’s Responsible Business Programme - one of the strongest in the hospitality industry.

Inge Huijbrechts, director responsible business, Carlson Rezidor explained: “Responsible business is about three key elements for us: environmental awareness; encouraging health and wellbeing among our staff; and supporting the community and charity.

“The cycle relay is a great way to combine all of these elements in one event which has really captured the imagination of the business.”

The relay’s progress will be documented via Facebook www.Facebook.com/UKBikeRelay and Twitter at #ukbikerelay.

Throughout the charity cycle relay, the team are being supported by a number of local and national sponsors, including main sponsors Leisure Connection and Bibendum.

Additional sponsors include: ALD, Adavid, Birtwistles, Bluebell, Coca Cola, Hobart, Matthew Clarke, MRP, Perry Scott Nash, Positive Safety Training, RDL, Reynolds and Tudor.
