Campbell Gray Hotels appoints Gerber to lead new Zurich property

Campbell Gray Hotels has announced the appointment of Olivier Gerber as general manager of new boutique hotel Alex, Lake Zurich.

Alex is set to open its doors on the western shore of Lake Zurich in the spring under the management of Campbell Gray Hotels.

Gerber is a Zurich native and, with his passion, creativity and impressive experience in the Swiss market, is perfectly positioned to lead the opening, and subsequent day-to-day running, of this unique hotel.

Prior to joining Alex, he was director of sales and marketing at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, St Moritz.

Here, Gerber successfully directed the sales and marketing team, introducing a sales-based productivity system and created a new market strategy which led to securing new distribution partners in Japan, China, India and Australia.

Previously Gerber also oversaw the opening of the four-star Hotel Marktgasse in Zurich as general manager.

Gerber’s venture into the hospitality industry started at the renowned Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in international hospitality management.

Shortly after graduating, Gerber embarked on a 16-year long career with the Four Seasons Hotel Milan where he gained valuable experience in several roles including as director of sales and marketing.

Alan O’Dea, managing director of Campbell Gray Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have Olivier join Alex as its general manager, overseeing its launch this spring.

“We were pleased to find a Zurich native, who really knows the hospitality market here inside out, to join the team.

“Alex’s location, close to the business hub of Zurich, yet enviably perched on the water’s edge of Lake Zurich will make it a popular choice for both business and leisure guests and we are confident Olivier is the right person to oversee its operation.”
