25 October 2000 : Lastminute.com ‘Worst’ UK Travel Site

According to a readers’ poll in a UK newspaper, Lastminute.com is the worst UK travel site. Although the online retailer has the highest profile, expedia.co.uk was the most popular travel site with the readers of the Daily Telegraph. The poll, analysed by NOP, an independent market research company, found that half of all respondents had booked at least part of a holiday on the Internet. While Lastminute.com has struggled to turn a profit, analysts estimate that it will not reach profitability until 2003. Its user base may have broadened, with some 30 percent of its 2 million registered users outside the UK, it is unclear how many of these are satisfied customers.
