Delta Air Lines Trims Web Fares

Delta cuts up to 10 percent off most online fares and offers bonus miles in celebration of new Web address, delta.com
ATLANTA,- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is celebrating its new Web address, www.delta.com (formerly delta-air.com), by offering up to 10 percent off most round-trip purchases and 1,500 bonus SkyMiles for flights purchased through the Web site Sept. 5-8, 2000 - 500 bonus miles for round-trip flights purchased during the promotion plus the standard 1,000 bonus miles for purchasing round-trip travel online.
To receive up to 10 percent discount on most fares and the bonus miles, customers simply purchase round-trip tickets via delta.com Sept. 5-8. The discount applies to most online tickets purchased for travel originating in the U.S. to any of Delta’s worldwide destinations.
Some services may be provided by The Delta Connection carriers Atlantic Coast Jet, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Comair, SkyWest, and Trans States Airlines; or by SkyTeam partners Air France and AeroMexico; or by codeshare partners Malev and China Southern Airlines. Delta.com simplifies online connection, supports brand recognition
With the new delta.com Web address, Delta makes locating its Web site easier for first time online customers and offers a quicker, direct connection for its existing Internet customers. Online customers with delta-air.com bookmarks will be automatically redirected to delta.com and informed of the new URL.
“The new delta.com address brings us one step closer to the customer because it’s the natural place people expect to find Delta on the Web,” said Patrice Miles, vice president of distribution planning for Delta. “From the redesign of our Web site to wireless initiatives, we are continuing to develop seamless communications to touch our flyers and enhance and simplify their overall travel experience.”
Miles said research has proven that an easy-to-remember Web site address that supports a company’s brand recognition is key to making a site a convenient place for customers to visit. The delta.com address will continue to become an essential customer contact point for the airline, and this is just one more step to show that commitment.
In addition to making reservations and purchasing tickets at delta.com, Delta customers can select seats online, get up-to-date flight arrival/departure information, check their current SkyMiles status, and upgrade to first or business class on flights within the United States, Bermuda, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico.
Fares do not include a federal excise tax of up to $2.75 which will be imposed on each flight segment of the itinerary. A flight segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing.
