Worldspan CEO Joins Board of “Clicks to Bricks” Leisure Travel Company
ByeByeNOW.com announced today the appointment of Paul Blackney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Worldspan, a leading e-commerce and global distribution systems provider, to its board of directors. The appointment follows an announcement that ByeByeNOW.com was selected by Worldspan to provide nearly 21,000 travel agencies in its global network with a database of leisure travel products and broadband content. Worldspan has an equity position in ByeByeNOW.com and is partnering on the technology being developed for the “clicks to bricks” leisure travel company and its network of ByeByeNOW.com Travel Store franchisees.

A 30-year veteran of the travel industry and an expert in travel distribution and advanced technology, Blackney assumed the position of President and CEO for Worldspan in October 1999, and is responsible for the company’s three lines of business: travel supplier services, e-commerce and worldwide distribution. He also serves on Worldspan’s Board. Prior to joining Worldspan, Blackney held a number of senior executive positions with United Airlines and Apollo/Galileo USA
Travel Services, where he was President and Chief Executive Officer. He serves on the board of Priceline.com and has twice been honored as “Travel Industry Man of the Year” by Travel Agent Magazine.

Blackney joins ByeByeNOW.com’s distinguished board of directors, including Bob Dickinson, President of Carnival Cruise Lines, Jim Davidson, CEO of the National Transportation Exchange and former CEO of Amadeus Global Travel Distribution LLC and Reese Schonfeld, co-founder of CNN and founder of the Food Network.
