Appoints Douglas Ziemer as COO

Former President of Carlson Wagonlit Travel to Implement B2B Strategy today announced the appointment of Douglas Ziemer as its Chief Operating Officer. Ziemer, an expert in the travel industry, will be responsible for implementing’s business-to-business web-based solution for travel agents and developing the online leisure travel company’s brick and mortar franchise network.

Prior to joining, Ziemer was President of the Americas at Carlson Wagonlit Travel, one of the world leaders in travel with more than 3,000 locations and over $9.5 billion in annual sales. There he was responsible for strategic planning, business development and client retention in the U.S., Latin America and Canada. Previous to that Ziemer was Vice President of the Walt Disney World Company in charge of Walt Disney Travel, where he oversaw operations, technology, customer service, and human resources for 16,000 resort and sales employees. Ziemer’s entire career has been centered around the service industry focused on customer satisfaction and adding shareholder value.
Building a franchise network of brand name travel agencies is key to’s clicks-to-bricks strategy and Ziemer’s responsibility. Through recent and pending acquisitions, the company gained more than 300 travel agency franchises in North America representing approximately $500 million in annual sales.

In addition, through its business-to-business partnership with WORLDSPAN, announced last week, will provide 18,500 travel agents in the global reservation system’s subscriber network with a web-based system that instantaneously delivers a comprehensive and fully searchable leisure product database, with offerings from the world’s leading cruise and tour operators. Further the agreement offers WORLDSPAN suppliers an opportunity to become franchise travel agencies. will provide its franchise travel agencies with an enhanced business solution that includes a comprehensive booking engine, multi-media database of streaming destination and vacation product videos and 360-degree photographic tours, customer relationship management, preferred supplier agreements, accounting systems and training. The company will drive traffic to the agencies through extensive brand advertising and Internet generated leads from its consumer web site. Agents in the franchise network will also be accessible to customers through the company’s web site via live chat, voice-over-Internet-protocol and video conferencing.
