Leading edge technology wins awards for Thistle

Thistle Hotels, Londons largest hotelier, has won two awards, Best Use of Technology by a Hotel Chain and Best Web Site by a Hotel Chain, at the inaugural Hospitality Solutions 99 Awards.


Over the last 12 months, Thistle Hotels has re-engineered its entire reservation network by installing a new central reservation system, sales and marketing customer information system, property management system and wide area network. The company has also created a new fully interactive Web site with full online booking capability via Netbooker directly into its reservation network.


The Awards ceremony, which was held on 4 October at the Park Lane Hotel, London, was attended by over 200 key industry figures. There were nine different award categories and Thistle Hotels was the only company to win two awards (against a shortlist of six finalists for the Best Use of Technology and five for the Best Web Site). The judges for the awards were senior figures from the hospitality industry.


The technology we have implemented is leading edge designed to meet key business objectives such as improving REVPAR, turnover and profitability  for example, we are the first UK based hotel company to create a single image inventory environment. The new reservation technology has also enabled us to improve customer service by offering a faster, more efficient process, said Des Pereira, director for business development for Thistle Hotels.


He added, Over the last 12 months, Thistle has invested an enormous amount of time, effort and money in technology and its nice to receive recognition from the industry.
